Rindom ready to claim back SSL Women World Crown

Just one week after losing n°1 SSL Women World Ranking to Martine Grael, Danish Anne-Marie Rindom can already claim it back next week. ILCA Laser Radial Women's World Championship starts in Oman and will distribute the last 2021 SSL ranking points.

Brazilian Martine Grael is leading SSL Women ranking with only 840.25 points ahead of Anne-Marie Rindom. It means Danish Laser Radial Olympic Champion just needs an overall 9th place in Oman to finish the year World n°1.

World n°3 Marit Bouweester could also have had the opportunity to aim at World top spot but the Dutch sailor has just announced on her socials she is having a baby soon! Congratulations!

SSL Ranking Points at World Championships: How does it work?

Sailors can gain a maximum of 2,500 points at any World Sailing’s World Championship. However, after two years, regattas' result points are divided by two. It means Martine Grael will lose 50% of her points from the Oceania Championship in 2019.

But as she has another regatta of 500 points (2019 Volvo European 49er FX Championship), she will lose only 243.75 points with a total of 9,375.25 points.

That’s why Anne-Marie, who also lost 500 points, has a total of 8,535 points and just needs a 9th place at Laser Radial World Championship in Oman to reach again n°1 SSL Women World Ranking.
