The first day of the traditional Nice Christmas Regatta saw 2 races completed. The boats left the harbour as the sun was rising in a stable termical breeze. After a general recall the 27 stars took the start of this first race in 8 knots. The two former world champions Rohart FRA and Benamati ITA took an early lead and never left it. Benamati ITA won the race followed by Rohart FRA in second and Nehammer AUT in third. The second start was given in a dying and shifty wind. Schönherr DEN won this complicated race followed by Rohart in second and Nazarro ITA in third.
After a few protests, Rohart / Pulfer FRA took the lead of the overall ranking. In second is Schönherr / Gravad DEN and Lacan / Giorgi FRA in third.
