It’s that time of the year, once again, it’s Nice Christmas Regatta!!
From the 28th to the 30th of December 2018, Nice will host for the 62nd edition (YES, 62nd!!) one of the most traditional and appreciated Star Class Regatta worldwide. To race here, you not only need to be a Star sailor, but you should also be one that doesn’t mind the Mediterranean winter cold water, the icy breeze coming down from the snowy mountains in the morning, de-icing the rigging before launching your boat in the morning. Are you ready for this? If you are not like last year’s winners and Olympic bronze medal Xavier Rohart, in that occasion with Serge Pulfer, then you might as well follow the action from home. The Star Sailors League will broadcast the event live tracking on its website, with the races starting on December 28th and finishing on the 30th, just before the start on the New Years Celebration.
Trying to burn off Christmas dinners and luncheons on the cold waves of the Nice Gulf this year, alongside the 2017 winners Xavier Rohart and Serge Pulfer who will try to confirm their French dominance, Star World Champion Roberto Benamati with Alberto Ambrosini, Star super coach Luca Modena, SSL Finals photographer Gilles Morelle – crewing for Florence Wargnier – and SSL Finals shore team Cicio Canali with Francesco Lattuada.
The race is part of the European Winter Series and is worth 250 SSL Ranking points.
