SSL Team Peru capitan - Stefano Peschiera Triumphs as Four-Time Champion at the South American Sailing Championship

Peruvian sailor and SSL Team Peru Capitan - Stefano Peschiera has once again proven his elite status in the sailing world by becoming a four-time champion at the 2025 Centroamericano and Sudamericano ILCA Championship, which is currently taking place in the Bay of Paracas until March 16. Peschiera, who is part of the Peruvian Olympic Cycle Program for 2025-2028, claimed the gold medal for the second consecutive year, solidifying his position as a dominant force in the ILCA 7 class.

Peschiera, who earned 12 points over the course of the 10 races, emerged as the best competitor in the ILCA 7 class, ahead of Argentine sailors Francisco Guaragna (24 points) and Juan Pablo Cardozo (27 points) who rounded out the podium. This marks his fourth overall title, having previously won in 2019 in Paracas, 2021 in Rio de Janeiro, and 2024 in Valparaíso, Chile.

In an emotional moment, Peschiera reflected on his success, stating, "This means a lot to me. To defend the home turf for the second time is truly special. I remember when I was 15, watching the legends of America compete for this title, which has been conquered by some of the best Olympic sailors in our region’s history. I want to thank Robert Scheidt for being my coach here and for inspiring me every day we share. A new adventure for 2028 awaits, and we’re more motivated than ever, eager to keep learning along the way."

Peschiera’s remarkable performance is a testament to his dedication and skill, and as he continues his journey towards the 2028 Olympics, he remains a prominent figure in the world of sailing.
