The Valencia 52 Super Series Royal Cup hosted in Spain featured tight racing during the two practice races held today. This event is the final and deciding competition of the 2024 TP52 Super Series, promising to be an intense and competitive showdown!
The practice races were conducted in stellar conditions, with a steady breeze of 18 knots. The 2023 winners of the event, Hasso and Tina Plattner’s Phoenix, secured victory in the first race, while Andy Soriano’s Alegre claimed the second race of the day.
Both The America's Cup and Youth America’s Cup were major factors behind the numerous crew changes during this event. Quantum Racing powered by American Magic having to find a replacement for Harry Melges IV. Similarly, Alpha Plus is missing its helm, Leo Takahishi, due to his responsibilities with Emirates Team New Zealand.
Alegre was not short of crew changes either with the addition of Elliot Willis as tactician and Nic Asher moving from the coach boat to main trim.
Looking Ahead:
The forecasts are promising for the upcoming week, with westerly winds predicted at 12-15 knots for the opening races on Tuesday. Racing will commence at 13:00 local time each day and will be streamed live on the 52 SUPER SERIES networks.
