And your 2024 Youth World Champions are...

A great week of sailing was wrapped up with Italy celebrating retaining their Nations Trophy at the 2024 Youth Sailing World Championships with six titles, culminating in a grand closing ceremony in Riva del Garda. Italian sailors Maria Vittoria Arseni and Antonio Pascali won in the men's and women's ILCA 6 classes, while Carola Colasanto and Federico Pilloni led in iQFOiL. Additionally, Lisa Vucetti and Vittorio Bonifacio secured their two-person dinghy (420) crown in style with two bullets on the final day of racing and Lorenzo Sirena and Alice Dessy take first in the Nacra 15 Class.

Poland enjoyed a fruitful week in the men's/mixed and women's skiff as both crews claimed the 29er titles. Alicja Dampc and Alicja Tutowska took the top spot on the podium, claiming the women's skiff trophy, 27 points ahead of Una Heinilä and Silja-Sophie Laukkanen of Finland and Annie Sitzmann and Molly Bonham (USA), who took silver and bronze.

In the men’s/mixed skiff, Ewa Lewandowska and Krzysztof Królik dramatically sealed victory in the final race of the week. Trailing Great Britain's Finian Morris and Charlie Gran by two points going into the last race, they finished second to claim the title. Lewandowska now has two youth world titles, having won the women's skiff in Brazil last year.

Maria Catalina Turienzo of Argentina, who dominated the women's Formula Kite event, is preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Canada’s Nikhil Damji received the Bengt Julin Trophy for sportsmanship.

Colin Postel and Theo Henry headlined another Italian-French one-two, with Miguel Padron Ferrer completing the podium for bronze. Danai Giannouli and Iakovina Kerkezou wrapped up their title with a day to spare but still raced to second in Friday's only women's 420 race to finish strong. Slovenia's Ana Planinšic and Lara Božic secured their first bullet of the Championships as Spain's Nicola Sadler Keen and Sofía Cavaco Torres broke free from the fleet for silver. Zeynep Caçur and Zeynep Köy edged out the USA crew for the bronze medal.
