The world’s top match-racers are currently competing in the 59th Congressional Cup at Long Beach Yacht Club, and SSL Gold Cup helmsmen fill the semi-final places.

After the fourth day of racing, the USA’s Chris Poole and five-time Congressional Cup champion Great Britain's Ian Williams, lead Switzerland's Eric Monnin and New Zealand's Nick Egnot-Johnson 2-0 respectively.
For Monnin the aim was to improve in the knockout stages after a shaky round robin, where his team only just squeezed into the quarter-finals:
"The goal for this season was to do better in the quarter-finals, which we just squeezed into in this regatta. We were able to improve our game and now we have to focus on the semi-finals. Now, we just have to win three races in a row tomorrow."
