There were 3 light wind races on day one of the 470 World Championships. The wind averaged 6 to 9 knots from the North West. Defending World Champions Keiju Okada and Miho Yoshioka from Japan are looking strong, currently lying in second place after two days of racing, behind their team mates Tetsuya Isozaki and Yuri Seki. Added to the National Selection for the Games between the Japanese, the fight is also close between the Germans and French Teams.
Qualifying races continued on Day two in a shifty northerly breeze with two races. The breeze ranged from 10 to 18 knots throughout the afternoon. The British, along with the Italians and a number of other nations, have yet to secure a place at the Paris Olympics. After today’s racing, with the top two British teams in 6th and 8th overall, leaves the British looking good to secure that one European qualification spot available from this event.
Tomorrow the Gold Fleet racing begins with two scheduled.Breeze is looking light for tomorrow morning but there are hopes for a sea breeze in the afternoon.
