After two days of no race for the absence of wind, today the Finn Gold Cup ended on the Balaton with the decisive Medal Race among the top ten. Seven regattas were raced this week to determine the top 10 sailors. The legendary Gold Cup went to Swedish Max Salminen, already Olympic gold as crew for Freddy Loof in Star at Weymouth 2012, and SSL Finalist and VIP at the lake Grand Slam in 2015. Salminen controlled the opponents in the Medal, which was won by Dutchman Nicholas Heiner in front of local Zsombor Berecz, SSL Finalist in 2016, and Greek Mitakis.
In the final standings, Salminen preceded a single point the Frenchman Jonathan Lobert, bronze medal in London in the Finn and SSL Finalist and VIP at SSL Lake Grand Slam. Third is Heiner himself, Wright and Berecz follow. The Argentine Facundo Olezza, eighth, is the first junior, and was st the SSL Final last year alongside Berecz.
