Poland snatch two gold medals at 53rd Semaine Olympique Française in Hyères (April 23-30). Agata Barwinska (SSL Poland n°2) took the first gold with a mastery of light winds, match racing and mathematics in the women’s ILCA 6. Dominik Buksak and Szymon Wierzbicki make it two for Poland in 49er.
Brazilian 49erFX Olympic Champion duo Martine Grael/ Kahena Kunze make a fantastic comeback after a weak start. They managed to finish strong by Race 7 and win over the fleet after solid results (8 time in Top 3 in the last 10 races).
In ILCA7, it was a very tight battle between Pavlos Kontides and Elliot Hanson. It is finally the Cypriot who makes it to victory for just one point in front of the British (42 pts - 43 pts).
Italian pair Ruggero Tita/ Caterina Banti did it again. Like in Mallorca two weeks ago at Trofeo Princesa Sofia, the Nacra17 specialists fly over their opponents by a massive margin. They win in France with 36 points over SSL World n°3 John Gimson/ SSL World Crew n°2 Anna Burnet (54 pts) and Sinem Kurtbay/ Askeli Keskinen (72 pts).
It is all over again in mixed 470. This new series seems not to have found its masters yet. Spanish Jordi Xammar/ Nora Brugman won Trofeo Princesa Sofia but just managed to finish 7th. SSL Sweden n°1 Anton Dahlberg/ Lovisa Karlsson take top spot with 35 points over Hyppolite Machetti (Kevin Pepponet's remplacement) / Aloise Retornaz (42 pts) and Germany's Luise Wanser/ Philipp Autenrieth (51 pts).
In ILCA6 (Women Laser), Agata Barwinska (86 pts) cruised to victory followed by French Marie Barrue (111 pts) and Louise Cervera (113 pts), who had a nice fight against World Champion Emma Plasschaert (115 pts) and the latest revelation Sarah Douglas (119 pts) from Canada.
