Mateusz Kusznierewicz (POL) has just come back from Lorient, France, where he presented the new innovative and international project of the SSL Nations Gold Cup. He’s been involved in the Star Sailors League since day one, and finished on the podium on several SSL events, but before that he is an Olympian with the first Gold medal won in the Finn Class in 1996 in Atlanta, USA. After this, he won another Olympic medal in Athens in 2004, a Bronze, once more in the Finn and moved to the Star class ever since with his crew Dominik Zycki (POL). Together they were the first Polish team to win the Star World Championship and went to the London Olympics in 2012.
Dominik has always been Mateusz’s crew, together they attended evert SSL Finals since 2013, winning Bronze that first year and Silver the year after. They haven’t done much Star sailing together and so they didn’t make the SSL Ranking Top 10 for the first time. But the Star Sailors League Finals could not be the same without the Polish duo. Who would Robert Scheidt (BRA) worry about at the windward mark rounding? And who would Paul Cayard (USA) try to control at the downwind gate. Because it’s clear, he is one of those gold stars in the starting line, everyone will carefully watch!!
Will 2018 be the year of another medal at the SSL Finals for Mateusz and Dominik? We are certain they will try very hard to get it!!
