With just three weeks to go before the SEA Games begin in Pattaya, preparations on the water are reaching full intensity. Among the teams competing in the SSL47 class is the host nation, SSL Team Thailand, featuring Her Majesty Queen Suthida as part of the crew.

Motivated by the goal of taking gold on their home waters, SSL Team Thailand has been training with energy, fully focused. Challenging conditions in the Gulf of Thailand have raised the bar for the team’s preparations. For the last three days, the wind has been reaching over 20 knots, kicking up steep chop and demanding absolute control on every maneuver.
Normally, SSL athletes train and compete in team uniforms reflecting their national identity. However, recent events in Thailand have brought a deeply emotional tone to the team’s presence on the water.

On October 24th, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, passed away at the age of 93. Following her passing, the King declared a one-year mourning period for the royal family and court officials. During the first month, national flags fly at half-mast, public events are held in a subdued manner, and people across the country are encouraged to wear black.
In honor of this period of mourning, SSL Team Thailand is training in black, carrying the spirit of respect and unity as they prepare to represent their nation on the international stage.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place in Thailand from 9 to 20 December 2025. The SSL47 class will compete between 15 and 18 December.
