Spain’s 470 sailor Jordi Xammar Hernandez has moved up two places to a career high of 4th in the SSL Global Ranking. The Tokyo 2020 Bronze Medallist hasn’t been off the podium in major events for two years now, including finishing as runner-up in both the 2022 470 World and European Championship, and has just won the 470 class in the 2023 Lanzarote International Regatta, which was sailed in some epic waves!

Up one place to 6th in the SSL Global Ranking is The Netherlands’ Odile van Aanholt. With crew Annette Duetz she is currently dominating the 49er FX class, winning the 2022 Worlds in Nova Scotia, Canada, where she was already defending champion, and finishing as runner-up at the Europeans in Aarhus, Denmark.

Hot on van Aanholt’s heels, just 28 points adrift, is Belgium’s Emma Plasschaert, who is up one place to 7th in the SSL Global Ranking. Racing down under in January, she most recently won the 2023 ILCA 6 Australian Open Championship held at Sandringham, earning herself 850 SSL Ranking points.

The U.S.A.’s Peter Duncan is up one place to 11th in the SSL Global Ranking. The J70, Etchells and Melges 24 sailor is regularly on the podium at major events in all three classes, and in 2022 won the Melges 24 Worlds, held in Fort Lauderdale, U.S.A, and third in J70 Worlds held in Monaco. Earlier this month he won the Etchells Florida State Championship held at Coconut Grove.

Up three places to 15th in the SSL Global Ranking is Norway’s Lars Johan Brodtkorb. In 2022 he finished third in both the International OK Dinghy and the Europe dinghy World Championships, while sailing a Finn successfully as well!

The SSL Rankings are updated every Tuesday and include 113,000 sailors (67,000 skippers and 47,000 crew), highlighting the world’s top inshore sailors across a huge range of classes. The SSL Global Ranking does not replace the rankings specific to each class but completes them, to offer a simple and attractive overview of inshore sailing to the general public.
